Dear Sir,  What can one say to a remarkable man on a remarkable birthday?  First of all, I am very glad that meeting my cara Sorella meant meeting you as well. You are generous with your time and affection and my kids and I appreciate it very much.  Second, I hope we get to see much more of you; I have wonderful memories of times spent together, from an evening of flooded streets in MN many years ago, Italian movies that I doubt any of us remembers, playing ball with two little kids in a restaurant so that Karen and I could talk, and other fun times that won't be mentioned to protect the innocent and the less innocent, but there are still more memories to make, more places to order mac and cheese, more hugs and laughs to be had.  And Third, Sir, enjoy your day in the company of people who love you dearly and for whom you mean so much. But please know that there are many more of us not in AZ with you, but still celebrating that you were born this fine...

Alley Oops and Counting. Cheers!

H ere is at least one of the 1000 Giuseppe Stories... There are countless stories with Giuseppe!   Drink nights at I Nonni, my house his house…. Karen’s house on the famous San Giuseppe’s celebrations and of course… The Butcher Block.    I don’t have a lot of pictures, maybe that’s intentional!  I do have great memories. One in particular comes to mind.  This was a Ferragosto celebration (notice how the word Celebration keeps popping up right around the word Giuseppe).   We decided to have a Bocce Ball tournament.  I’m unsure now if this was the one at the Hastings Vineyard or at the 3M Club.    Everything was going as expected.  In other words… we were doing poorly and as we tried to figure out what part of our technique should we modify… the strength, the curve, the height… finally he came up with a hypothesis….  Maybe if we put our wine glasses down and be less concerned about not spil...

From your favorite daughter Happy 70th birthday! I hope that you have an amazing day celebrating!   Coen said to tell you happy birthday and that he is very happy that he gets to spend it with you.  I asked if he had anything else to add and he said no, I am not good at that stuff.  (He may take after me a little) I am also glad that you are here to celebrate.  I don't really know what to write, and now that I have procrastinated for too long, I really have to focus.   I just want to say that I am incredibly thankful for all that you do.  Thank you for all the Monday's morning phone calls, the advice, the goofiness the patience and the love that you have to give.   Coen and I are incredibly lucky to have you, and I know that he looks forward to every minute he gets to spend with you! Hopefully, his next adventure with you will be some fun in Italy.   We love you very, very much!
